Senior Operations, Administration & HR Manager
Location: French International School of Colombo (EFIC), Colombo, Sri Lanka
Reports to: School Director (functional) and Management Committee (strategic oversight)
Contract Type: Full-time, local contract

Position Overview
The Senior Operations, Administration & HR Manager will play a key leadership role in supporting the expansion and smooth functioning of EFIC. Working closely with the Director of Finance and Administration, the Director and the Management Committee, this position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, leading all human resources functions, and ensuring that the school’s facilities, administrative systems, and support services meet the highest standards.
This is a hands-on senior management role requiring excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to the mission of EFIC. The successful candidate will be instrumental in overseeing the refurbishment and operationalization of EFIC’s new school premises, ensuring that all facilities, staffing, and support functions are in place to provide a safe and enabling environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day school operations, including facilities management, maintenance, cleaning, and security services.
- Coordinate and supervise the refurbishment and fit-out of EFIC’s new school premises, ensuring timely completion within budget and compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure efficient procurement of goods and services in line with school policies and best practices.
- Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Human Resources Management
- Lead all HR-related matters, including recruitment, onboarding, staff contracts, payroll coordination, performance management, and professional development.
- Serve as a key point of contact for staff on HR policies, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
- Work closely with the School Director and Management Committee to ensure the school attracts and retains qualified staff.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional workplace culture.
Administration & Governance
- Support the Management Committee and School Director in administrative tasks, reporting, and decision-making.
- Prepare and present regular reports on operations, HR, and administrative matters to the Management Committee.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, labor, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, contracts, and documentation related to staff, vendors, and school operations.
Strategic Support
- Contribute to EFIC’s strategic planning process and implementation of the school’s growth objectives.
- Work in close partnership with the Director of Finance and Administration to align operations with budgetary priorities.
- Provide operational insights and recommendations to support the long-term development of EFIC.
Reporting Lines
- Direct Reporting: Functionally to the School Director.
- Strategic Oversight: Management Committee (through regular updates, participation in committee meetings as needed, and reporting on operations and HR matters).
- Collaboration: Close coordination with the Director of Finance and Administration and other members of the school leadership team.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, or related field (Master’s degree preferred) is a required
- International experience working and/or studying abroad is desirable
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in operations, administration, and HR, preferably in an international school or similar organization.
- Proven experience managing teams, facilities, and HR processes in a multicultural environment.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan labor law and HR best practices.
- Experience in project management, including refurbishment or relocation projects, is highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and oral communication skills in English required; French would be a strong asset but not required.
